The Best Ideas Do Not Care About Seniority
7 July 2026
India lost the recent T20I to England, but the match was special because it marked the international debut of 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. I happened to catch a part of the game, and one small exchange between him and Abhishek Sharma was quite refreshing to hear.
Abhishek looked at his young batting partner and asked:
Abhishek: “Vaibhav, look at the strong wind. Should I go over the top or play it down the ground? What do you think?”
Vaibhav replied:
Vaibhav: “Watch out for the double bounce, bhaiya. When the ball lacks pace, it’s staying low.”
What was refreshing to observe: a seasoned international cricketer openly asking for the opinion of a teenager making his debut. Abhishek was secure enough to seek that input and factor it into his decision.
